Getting Started

I'm new to yoga. Where do I start?

Listen to your body and go at your own pace, whatever other students are doing. Drink water before class and stay hydrated during class.

Good first classes include Modern Hatha, Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Strengthen Stretch and Release, YogaLates, Mat Pilates, Qi-Gong, Flow Yoga and the 60-minute Hot26+.

What should I expect in my first class?

Feeling a little nervous the first time is natural. Bring an open mind, learn the breathing, and enjoy moving through the poses.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes early so you can park, check in and get settled.

How often should I practice to see results?

Regular practice matters most, with no long gaps between classes. If you are new, we recommend at least 10 classes in your first 30 days.

How do I create an account and book classes?

Create an account on our MindBody booking site, then reserve your classes there or in our app. Your email address is never shared, and you can opt out of news and promotions in your profile.

Please turn on text alerts so you hear about schedule changes and waitlist openings.

What if I have trouble with my MindBody account?

Email help@yogahealthcenter.com. If the problem continues, call MindBody support at 877-755-4279 and give them our Site ID: 133.

Are there health conditions that would prevent me from practicing?

Please check with your doctor or healthcare provider before starting any new exercise program. Tell your teacher about any injury before class.

Classes

What kinds of classes do you offer?

We offer heated and non-heated classes, including Hot26+, Power Vinyasa, Sculpt Power Flow, Yoga Fusion, Yin, Iyengar, Mat Pilates, Qi-Gong and more.

See the class schedule for what is running this week.

How long are classes, and how many students are in a class?

Most classes are 60 or 75 minutes. Class sizes vary across our three studios; in general there are 20 to 35 students in a class.

Why are some classes heated?

Heat helps increase your flexibility so you can go deeper into poses with less risk of injury. It also promotes circulation and relaxation.

Do you offer private sessions?

Yes. One-on-one sessions can be purchased as a single session, 3 sessions or 5 sessions.

Do you offer workshops and special events?

Yes. Upcoming workshops are listed under Workshops & Events in the menu. You can also subscribe to our email newsletter or follow us on Instagram (@goyhc) and Facebook.

What training do your teachers have?

Our teachers are highly qualified and are Yoga Alliance and fitness certified.

How do I watch On Demand videos?

Choose On Demand under Classes in the menu. If you see the message "Sorry, you are not authorized to view this page," log out of MindBody and log back in.

Pricing and Memberships

What does it cost to take classes?

You can buy a single class, a pack of 5, 10 or 20 classes, or a membership. New students can start with 30 days of unlimited classes for $75. Current prices are on our Pricing page.

Class packs expire: 5 classes in 60 days, 10 classes in 120 days, 20 classes in 180 days. A 3.75% service fee is added at checkout.

How do memberships work?

Memberships are billed automatically to a card on file. The commitment is three months, then month-to-month. You can freeze a membership for $9.95 per month, which holds your current rate until you return.

To cancel, send 15 days' written notice by email to membership@yogahealthcenter.com. Email is the only way to cancel.

Can I get a refund or transfer my classes?

No. All sales are final. Classes and memberships are non-refundable, non-transferable and cannot be shared.

Policies

What time should I arrive?

Please arrive 15 minutes before class. There is no late entry: the doors lock when class begins and unlock when it ends.

What if I need to cancel a class or miss one?

Cancel at least 1 hour before class. The first late cancel or no-show is a warning; after that the fee is $10 per class. If you miss a class without cancelling, the class is also deducted from your drop-in or class pack.

How do waitlists work?

Waitlists are available for in-studio classes that are full. If a spot opens you will get a text, so text notifications must be turned on in your MindBody account. Please reply to the text, and take yourself off the waitlist if your plans change.

Please do not come to the studio unless you have been confirmed into the class.

What is the studio etiquette?

Leave your shoes outside the studios. Phones and earbuds are not allowed in the studio; please store them in a locker.

Quiet conversation in the room is fine before class. Please be silent during class and hold your questions until afterward; teachers are usually available for 5 to 10 minutes. After class, please observe silence in the room, return props neatly and take your belongings with you.

Are children allowed in class?

Children under 12 are not admitted. Age 12 and over must be accompanied by an adult in class.

Why do you take my photo?

We take a headshot of every new student before their first class so we can identify you in our software. It is for internal use only.

Visiting the Studio

Where are you located?

677 Laurel Street, Suite 200, in downtown San Carlos. We are on the corner of Cherry and Laurel Streets, above Peet's Coffee.

Where can I park?

There is free 2-hour parking on the streets around the studio and in the lot behind the building, where our main entrance is.

If that lot is full, try the Wheeler Plaza garage (entrance on Walnut Street, one block away) or the 2-hour underground parking at the library on Elm Street, two blocks away.

Where do I check in?

Check in at the outside door at the main entrance or at the front desk.

What should I bring, and what do you provide?

Bring a yoga mat, a water bottle and any props you like. Weights and blankets are available in a closet near the studios, and there is a water station near the bathrooms.

Showers are available, with shampoo and soap provided; bring a towel and a change of clothes. If you forget something, our rental kiosks have mats, towels and water.

How will I hear about schedule changes and events?

Through our website, notices at the studio, email and our app. If you gave us your email address and have not heard from us in two or three weeks, please let us know.
