YHC COVID Statement and Policies
You and your safety have always been and still remain our most important priority!
We’re missing you and looking forward to resuming operations after we’ve been given the green light from San Mateo County. Although we do not know when on-site classes will resume, when it’s appropriate and safe, there will be a gradual reopening of the studio.
We will continue to follow federal, state, and county leaders to define protocols for physical distancing and sanitization that will keep our students, staff, and teachers safe and healthy. We’re using this time to get the studios ready to safely resume services when YHC reopens. All three studios and common areas have been completely reconfigured with physical distancing in mind.
We’d like you to know that we’ve been responding quickly to changes in our community during the last 11 weeks to keep our YHC members safe and satisfied with our expanding menu of streaming classes. We’d like to share an overview of what to expect once you arrive for a gradual reopening here at the YHC.
NEW PROCEDURES WITH HEALTH & SAFETY AT THE FOREFRONT
WHAT WILL TAKING A CLASS LOOK LIKE?
Here are some of the new and safety-enhanced common daily practices and policies that will provide guidance and structure to all of us.
Studio classes will not look the same as before the shelter in place (SIP) order.
There are new guidelines for entering and exiting the building and classrooms that will be provided to all students and agreed upon with signed consent. Your safety is paramount and we greatly appreciate your flexibility as you learn our new procedures to keep you safe. We have implemented social distancing and risk-reduction protocols.
Please note that gathering or congregating indoors before or after classes isn’t allowed. Within the building’s common areas and within the studio spaces, participants must always stay at least six (6) feet apart to maintain physical distancing.
Safe distance markings on the ground of the parking lot leading up to the entrance.
One way routes in and out of the studio
Hands-free entry to the building where you’ll find a greeter at the entrance confirming your required pre-registration using an iPad. You’ll be given a number that corresponds to the assigned classroom practice area (your “safe circle”). You’ll be offered a free plastic bag to use for your wet/soiled clothes/towel afterward. And at this starting point, we will pace student entry.
Our greeter will offer you the use of the hands-free sanitizer dispenser located outside before coming in and going out on your way back to your car so you stay safe at all stages of coming and going for your class.
Classes will be smaller and we’ll stagger student arrival and departure times to limit crowding by scheduling class times that support this staggered entry procedure.
After you enter the building, you’ll go up the stairs and proceed directly into your classroom where there will be a corresponding number on the floor that matches your assigned practice area number. This is your assigned area that provides a safe space reserved for your practice on the mat and for your belongings nearby. The location number is clearly marked inside the classroom and it corresponds to your assigned number that you received when you entered from outdoors. We will no longer permit access to lockers to store your belongings, so please keep that in mind when you ready yourself at home for your class..
(*Essential items to bring: mask (not required in the classroom), robe, slip on shoes, towel, mat, and plenty of water (XL size since there is no use of a water fountain).
We’ll be using the FILO (First In Last Out) method for entry/exiting and LIFO (Last In, First Out) method for entry/exiting.
You’ll use your assigned number to inform you when to exit the class. The front row, having numbers 16 -21 will be first to exit and if you were one of the first to arrive and received #s 1-7, you will exit near the end because your location is in the back of the studio.
The numbering system keeps everyone in their personal spaces and informs them when best to exit.
No prop or towel rental service, no water fountain use, no locker room use
No shared spaces outside of the classrooms (one person at a time in the restroom, stairwell and lobby area)
We have created a schedule for increased routine cleaning and disinfecting beyond the frequently established ones which are completed in the classroom after every class. We will pay extra attention to the lobby, stairwell, railings, landings, floors, counters, and more.
After your class, please leave the studio fully prepared to exit YHC. Down the stairs to the parking lot.
Monopoly Rule: Do not stop when you pass the exit door.
PRE REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED FOR IN STUDIO CLASSES
We will use MindBody for pre-registration for all classes. Please contact yhc@yogahealthcneter, with any questions about log-in details or registration.
We thank you for your support and patience during this time, and we will continue to keep you informed of updates related to reopening. Stay well and stay 6 feet apart with an open heart.
